Trieste Italy

Trieste is known as the crossroads for travelers, as the former Austro-Hungarian Empire’s port, a place where you can get great coffee and gelato while breathing the sea air, get fascinated by the Neoclassical buildings and have an occasional shopping spree. It’s also known for its narrow streets and rather hectic driving. Luckily Tesa, Katarina and I had a chance to explore it in an eco-friendly supermini, the Toyota Yaris Hybrid. This small, but surprisingly spacious car turned out to be a great match for the traffic (it was an automatic, which was a great plus for sure). We drove to the Castello di Miramare, a 19th century castle with a lovely park at the edge of Trieste and later explored other old city’s unique landmarks and attractions. We had delicious seafood pasta and a gourmet ice cream. Just a quick stroll from our hotel, the Savoia Excelsior Palace (read all about it here) was the Piazza Unita d’Italia and a few steps more the Canale Grande. As you can see we took the advantage of the warm sunny weather, took some (a lot of!) photos, chatted and had a lot of fun! The drive home was definitely one of the highlights of our trip, Tesa turned out to be a great driver and our Toyota Yaris managed to conquer the steepest and the most narrow road out of the city. I truly had an amazing time and can’t wait to get lost in the streets of another city with my two blogger friends again!

Savoia Excelsior Palace

After an easy hour drive from Ljubljana in the Toyora Yaris hybrid , we arrived in Trieste, Italy. I’ve been to this Adriatic port city numerous times before, I always remembered it as a great easily-accessible shopping destination. Together with Tesa (Magnifique blog) and photographer Katarina Veselič we decided to thoroughly explore the city. We stayed at the Savoia Excelsior Palace, which is definitely the most luxurious hotel you can opt for while staying in Trieste. Built in 1911 and being completely renovated a while ago it’s “a modern expression of the majestic, refined, sumptuous, and unequaled style of the turn-of-the-century Grand Hotel”. It’s a part of the Italian luxury group Starhotels, so you can image the standards in accommodation and service are on point. The thing that impressed me most is definitely the architecture and interior design, while the total renovation returned all the important historical pieces to its former glory.

Unbeatable location

Savoia Excelsior Palace is located on the Riva del Mandracchio, facing the Palazzo dei Congressi and Stazione Marittima, while on the other side the Piazza dell’Unità d’Italia. So just a short stroll away is the main square where you’ve got all the nicest restaurants and bars in the close proximity.

Suite with the stunning sea view

We stayed in one of the 36 Suites out of the 144 rooms at the Savioa Excelsior Palace. Our had the stunning sea-side view, it was spacious and furnished in a classical style mixing luxurious velvet materials, interesting wallpapers and marble. You can totally see they put so much time and effort in the details in order to make your stay as luxurious and indulgent as possible. My favourite part of our room would definitely be the balcony from where we could watch the Adriatic sea.

A buffet breakfast to pamper the taste buds

Eat breakfast as a king is the motto I always live by, especially if it’s in form of a luxury hotel’s buffet. At Savoia Excelsior Palace the lobby, bar and restaurant have a sea view. Imagine drinking a coffee and eating delicious fresh fruit and pastrie, pampering your taste buds and having a stunning view as well.

Thank you for your hospitality, Savoia Excelsior Palace. You definitely exceeded all my expectations.

Lancome Juicy Shaker

Over 15 years ago Lancome has brought out products named Juicy Tubes that later turned out to be one of the most iconic lip products ever. Earlier last month they brought out a product that might take the Lancome lip game to a whole new level – the Lancome Juicy Shaker.

Lip addicts (like me) will highly appreciate this innovative Lancome product.

Lancome Juicy Shaker is a flavoured lip colour, which is inspired by the iconic Juicy Tubes and The Shaker, a lipstick launched in 1946. It has a bi-phase formula that combines pigment and four nourishing oils. The transparent oil phase gives a comfortable non-sticky shine, while the pigment phase a hint of colour. You should shake it well before applying, which is logical, since they call it the »shaker«. The packaging reminds of a cocktail shaker, it’s extremely cute and chic. It has a pillowy-soft cushion applicator, which spreads the product nicely. The pigmentation varies from shade to shade (there are 20 available overall, 6 in Slovenia at the moment), but generally it’s gives a sheer tint.

»Shake It, Twist It, Love It! Colours that turn you on!«

I instantly knew I am going to love the Lancome Juicy Shaker. I aim for easy-to-apply, nourishing and sheer lip products on a daily basis. The packaging is superbly Instagramable, the feeling on the lips is non-sticky and comfortable. The scent varies from shade to shade, most of them are sweet and fruity. The name of each corresponds to its own delicious scent. I’ve got two – Meli Melon as the name suggest has a melon scent and is a light pinky shade, while Vanilla Pop has a delicate sweet vanilla scent and berry red colouring. They both give a sheer tint and don’t dry out my lips, on the contrary, this addictive lip oil is even nourishing my lips.

The Lancome Juicy Shaker made me feel like a kid again. It’s fun, playful and cute!

Petite Jolie

I was invited by the lovely Petite Jolie team to take a look at their newest Spring/Summer 2016 collection. For those of you who don’t know the brand, it’s actually a Brazilian brand that offers colourful and fun shoes and bags. Their designs are definitely unique (they are all limited editions) and the most interesting thing about their products is the fact that most of them have a lovely scent (heavenly scented flipflops, what else could you wish for?). Overall, my favourite pieces from the new collection are the floral ballerinas, however my favourite colour choice would be white, beige or glittery silver and gold, while I also spotted some cute small purses (ideal for taking your phone and some change for a walk around the city or the seaside). The price of the Petite Jolie product varies from 22-77€, you can buy them in a lot of countries around the world (here in Slovenia you can for example get them in Maxi and different Modiana stores around the country).
